London Dream, A
- Synopsis
- High-spirited film by Richard Wilson of a performance by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields of Mendelssohn’s interpretation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream conducted by Ryan Wigglesworth. Combining music and dance and shot on various locations around London, the film is in six parts: Overture, Scherzo, Intermezzo, Nocturne, Wedding March and Finale. Throughout the film, quotes from Shakespeare’s play appear on screen to provide context. The Genesis Sixteen choral ensemble, Rowan Pierce (soprano) and Stephanie Wake-Edwards (mezzo-soprano) join the orchestra for the Finale and Song with Choir for the close of the film.
