Synopsis
The final episode of Endeavour, the prequel to Inspector Morse (19870-2000), with Shaun Evans playing the younger version of the character previously made famous on-screen by John Thaw. Detective Sergeant Endeavour Morse finally resolves the Blenheim Vale case and faces up to some hard truths about his mentor, Inspector Fred Thursday. The story concludes with quotations from Shakespeare’s Henry IV Part 2 and The Tempest.

When Endeavour realises that his boss has been involved in a crime, he quotes Shakespeare’s Henry IV Part 2, Act V Scene 5 ('I know thee not, old man’). At the end of the episodes, the now retired Chief Superintendent Bright (played by Anton Lesser) performs the ‘Our revels now are ended’ speech from Act IV Scene 1 of The Tempest while sitting by his wife’s graveside.
