- Summary
- Further pictures of the US Marine landing on Tarawa in the Gilbert Islands. Landing craft head in towards Betio Island and the Marines on landing try to establish a beachhead. First of the wounded are carried back to the beach and put onto landing craft. The Marines in action try to flush out Japanese strongpoints with gunfire and flame throwers. Few prisoners are brought in. Marines show captured equipment and battle scars, and are seen saluting the flag as it is raised over the Island.
