Summary
Bombers over Northern France prior to the landings, bomb marshalling yards in softening up process. Rockets are used to bombard Normandy emplacements and fighters strafe other targets. Gliders and Dakotas in England await take off. At invasion ports men embark on the ships that will take them across the Channel. The ships at sea and French coastal guns into action. Landing craft close to the shore and aerial views of the invasion fleet and beachhead being established. American and British troops coming ashore. First of the wounded are brought back. More landings and some troops already ashore are seen in a French railway station. Heavy equipment comes ashore including bren gun carriers. On the journey back landing craft are loaded with German POWs.
