- Summary
- Scenes in and around the port of Cherbourg after liberation by British and allied troops. Happy French men and women are there to welcome them. Prisoners are released, some of whom are Russians who were brought to France by the Germans to do enforced labour. Many German prisoners are taken. Frenchmen tear down signs of German occupation. Supply ships off-shore and landing craft bring in all types of supplies. British troops move further through French countryside, further through villages of Creux, Odon and Tourville. Aftermath of the battle of Rauray sees British wounded being taken back to base. One being given blood plasma while on a stretcher. Flail tanks are seen in action, these are new anti-landmine devices which by means of chains continuously thresh the ground which detonates anti-personnel and anti-tank mines.
