Summary
Civilians are evacuated from Caen, and in Cherbourg women who collaborated with the enemy have their heads shaved to mark them as traitors. An ex-Russian prisoner press-ganged into the German Army escapes to the American lines and tells how he could bring in many of his comrades. The Americans set to work printing pamphlets in Russian to send over into enemy lines to inform other prisoners of the plan. The Russian is as good as his word, risking his life he comes back with his platoon.
