Summary
US troops await for signal for the invasion of Palau in the Pacific. The first Marine Division goes ashore at Peleliu Island, largest of the group. Firing field guns, machine guns, bazookas and flame throwers the troops advance, establishing a beach-head. But some of the stiffest resistance is met when the real fighting starts inland, and casualties are heavy.
