- Princess Elizabeth, with Admiral of the Fleet Sir Andrew Cunningham, prepares to launch the latest and greatest battleship ever built in Britain, "Vanguard". For the first time the Princess’s own standard is flown. The launching ceremony takes place and "Vanguard" moves down the slipway.
