- Summary
- British soldiers in the trenches undergo winter hardships in sub-zero temperatures. They are seen washing and shaving in trenches and receiving tea, with snow all around. American troops advance towards La Roche, with sappers going ahead detecting mines left by retreating Germans. British troops also head towards Laroche coming from the forest of St Hubert, they are seen along snow covered roads. A Belgian woman, Mme Monique, helped the allied advance when she told German officers that the roads to Celles had been mined by the Americans. While engineers were sent off our troops had time to deal with them and the German drive stopped short at Celles. Americans starting from Malmedy push on towards St Vith and on the way pass the mutilated bodies of over 100 of their comrades taken prisoner and slaughtered by the SS. Captured German prisoners look on.
