- Coldstream Guardsmen of the Guards Armoured Division get great reception by people of Enshede on the Dutch-German frontier. Over the German border a train loaded with V2 rockets is captured. The war-heads were missing but otherwise the rockets were sectionally complete. The train was destined for a launching site. It took 200 Americans to make the final capture of Heidelberg, one of Germany’s oldest cities. General views of the University, one wing of which was built on American money. All discipline has broken down in Germany and large-scale looting of shops, barges and trains takes place. Inmates of the prison camp at Kaunitz after their liberation by the 9th American Army. They are Russian and the Jewish prisoners were forced to wear a yellow cross on their clothing. Their prison numbers were tattooed on their arms. Their tortured limbs are heavily bandaged. 30,000 of their comrades died from privations. At Hadamar Asylum, German officials and officers look at the result of their mass murder of inmates. These are the only pictures fit to be shown. The Dortmund-Ems Canal, once an artery for German transport now a collection of derelict barges and broken bridges. In the same region, a British Marine checks Osnabruck streets with his walkie-talkie. Hungarian soldiers, kept prisoner by the Germans are released, and march to freedom through Osnabruck. Posing as a Dutchman, a Gestapo man in spotted among the crowd of civilians and has to be led away to safety by British soldiers.
