Summary
Stunt shot of estate agents displaying sign: No Homes, No Flats, No Kidding, then into how emergency housing is being tackled in Tottenham where pre-fabricated homes provided under lease-lend are being built. Glasgow Corporation puts German POWs to work on a building site where 120 houses are to go up. In Woolwich, permanent pre-fabricated houses costing between eight and nine hundred pounds each are being erected. A novel sight is the putting into position of a complete kitchen which is then ready for use. In Manchester, at a recent all-electric exhibition, interest was roused in a new refrigerator with a door which opens at the touch of a pedal, also shown is an electrically heated stainless-steel towel rail. From Sweden comes a new idea in furniture, ready packed and in sections it is delivered by post and all you have to do is assemble it yourself.
