- SHOTLIST: Australian attack on Balikpapan. Jungle fighting in Borneo on a scale hitherto unseen in newsreel. Film shows advance through jungle by Australian troops, firing at Japanese snipers and rescuing a casualty from a tank. Jap sniper laying dead in the undergrowth. Native refugees return to their village and we see various shots of starved natives and Indian soldiers who have undergone great deprivation while in Japanese captivity. Australians attack Balikpapan, going in aboard landing craft under cover of naval barrage. General MacArthur watches the landings. Flamethrowers in action and a Japanese soldier is seen burning from head to foot running from hut, attempting to check the flames. MacArthur walking on battlefield after the fall of Balikpapan to the Australians.
