Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Finland Defiant. DESCRIPTION: Helsinki is bombed again and again. The Finns continued to fight and Russian planes are brought down and prisoners taken. SHOTLIST: Fires rage in Helsinki but the ambulance squads are on the job and the wounded are carried off to hospital under the watchful eye of General Shivo. The wreckage of a Russian bomber is seen and machine gun bullets and a metal plate are salvaged. At Soumussalmi, prisoners are exercised and fed. Tanks, lorries and guns of all kinds have fallen into Finnish hands. Russo-Finnish War Material - CARD 38227 General Tuompo sits at his writing desk. Finnish patrols and artillery. One of the war cameramen. Tank Gun at Russian frontier. Boundary landmarks. In Helsinki President Kallio confers with foreign pressmen. Finland Defiant - CARD 38432A Buildings on fire, firemen in foreground. Various shots. Streets littered with debris. People being carried away on stretchers to ambulances. CU of General Seavor. Various Russian wrecked aircraft. CU steel plate in plane used for protection of pilots. Parade in snow of 500 Russian prisoners. Marching into centres and feeding. Several shots of tanks and lorries wrecked. Corpses in snow. Machine guns being handled by Finnish troops. Troops through snow carrying skis.
