- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Defence of the Nile. DESCRIPTION: Following Italy’s declaration of war the Egyptians strengthen their defences. SHOTLIST: Tanks co-operate with Egyptian troops ashore. Under the Statue of the British Lion an Egyptian soldier keeps guard. These warriors also stand at the banks of the Nile. Shots of Cairo, (one very good elevated shot) and the Pyramids. On the actual waterway, motor-boats armed with Bren guns keep up a ceaseless patrol. Last shot is of an Egyptian standing on the bow of a boat by the flag. Also included are pictures of tank manoeuvres in the desert. They are hastily manned and go off into the desert where they advance in formation.
