Summary
Princess Margriet of the Netherlands marries commoner Pieter Van Vollenhoven. It was a marriage which for many Dutch people brought the young Princess closer to their hearts, for the groom is a 27 year old Dutchman, a lawyer by profession. At two ceremonies, one civil and the other religious, Prince Bernhard gave his blessing to the couple and the House of Orange and the people of the nation rejoiced at the royal event.
