Summary
33 hours for a flight half-way round the world. Pathe News went aboard the Rolls Royce powered 707 for BOAC’s inaugural flight on the South Trans-Pacific route. It’s the first time a British airline has blazed this air trail which speeds passengers through New York, San Francisco, Honolulu across the dateline and equator, to Fiji and then to Sydney. It was a fantastic journey started in a boom year for BOAC which has just announced record profits of £23,000,000. What a contrast to the clipper ships of yesteryear.
