Summary
No more will the Albert Hall echo to the strains of Elgar’s ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ under the baton of Sir Malcolm Sargent. The great man of music and idol of promenaders has gone to his last resting place. Thousands lined the street outside the ancient church to say their last ‘goodbyes’ to the man who endeared himself to so many though his love of music.
