- Eighty-six starters faced a gruelling 15 miles in the National Amateur Cyclo-Cross Championships. This event clearly showed that it’s a sport of strength and stamina. Winner was John Atkins of Coventry who, with the three other placed riders, was chosen to represent Great Britain in the World Championships.
