Summary
Four years ago a new landmark suddenly appeared in the heart of the West End. Oxford Circus, one of the busiest crossroads in the metropolis found itself with an "Umbrella Bridge" to span the work going on underneath the new Victoria Line. But when London was at its quietist, the bridge was taken down - work below pavement level was almost complete.
