Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Rock Prepares. DESCRIPTION: The Rock of Gibraltar, in a strategic position at the entry to the Mediterranean, is being re-fortified. The tunnels beneath the rock are being extended and modern armaments added. SHOTLIST: Tunnelling goes on in the rock and blasting takes place. Troops man the posts with automatic weapons and look out over the beaches. Nice pan shot from the top of the rock to a machine gun. External defences take the form of Bofors, 4.7 AA and coastal guns. The men bathe and fish while men keep guard. Good symbolic stuff. Library scenes of the town. At the entrances people are stopped for their passes.
