- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Sinking of the "Bismarck". DESCRIPTION: The sinking of the "Bismarck" was due to co-operations between the RAF and the Navy. In this dramatic film you see salvoes from the "Bismarck" failing to hit one of our battleships. Some of those who took part in the battle speak to Movietone. SHOTLIST: Shots of Catalina aircraft taking off. Aboard "Renown", Admiral Somerville works out the position of the raider and "Swordfish" aircraft take off from "Ark Royal" to intercept. 16mm shots as shells from the "Bismarck" fall short of one of our battleships. In port, men of the cruiser "Dorsetshire" come ashore and moored in the harbour are the cruiser "Norfolk", the aircraft carrier "Victorious" and the battleship "Rodney". Mr Alexander went aboard to congratulate the men and Rodney’s captain. Captain Dalrymple-Hamilton speaks. Also others speak, cuts only: Lt Com GCO Gateacre, S Kagen. Captain AJ Phillips (Norfolk). Com AC Luce (Norfolk), Signalman White (Norfolk), Flt Com Ranald (Victorious) and Lt Ennever (Victorious).
