- Commentary: Then it’s time for a tea-break. We visit an ordinary tea-shop where housewives rest their shopping-feet over a cuppa. A tea-shop as ordinary and English as they come - until six o’clock. Then, hey presto! - the tea shop becomes an elegant French restaurant. A bit of England is transformed for gay French night-life with a commissionaire disguised as a gendarme - and Maigret striking his match, stumbling in and letting the supper that Madame Maigret cooked for him go cold at home.
