Summary
Pathe synopsis: It’s the wilderness, with Bedouin horsemen thundering by. It is, also, the threshold of a modern city. Cairo - where East and West, and ancient and modern, mix. We find ancient inscriptions flanking ultra-modern buildings. The pyramids, a bus-ride away from the new Shepheard’s Hotel where tea-time is nostalgic. From that river of liquid history, the Nile, the Pic’s Magic Carpet takes us to Cairo’s night life, where Arabic sky signs persuade you that neon lights were specially conceived for that particular language. From the pyramids by moonlight, we move in one the throbbing rhythm that accompanies the top belly dancer of the Middle East in a routine that all of us, ancient and modern, instinctively appreciate.
