MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Capture of Majunja [sic] A.259. DESCRIPTION: When Britain was forced to take further action in Madagascar, the landing of the force at Majunga was one of the principal operations leading to our advance on the capital and to control of the remainder of the island. SHOTLIST: LS Ships & craft off coast. Pan shot of coastline. Ships on horizon. Dawn begins to break. Shot of lighthouse. Troops coming ashore on quay. Wounded chef de battalion of Majunja & Officer Commanding. CU. Civilians walking towards camera. HQ Commandants D’Armes, the Union Jack being hoisted. CU French officer made prisoner. C de B with white flag. Same is driven round town on car. Our patrols being sent out to find prisoners, shot of them crossing rather rough country. Prisoners marching into the town with their rifles slung, escorted by out troops. Civilians giving out tommies a drink of water. Bren Carrier down street into camera. Shot of a nurse. RW Fusiliers entering town. Group standing outside hospital. MS General Sturges standing outside HQ Commandant D’Armes. CU General Sturges. Platt with Brigade Commander, 3 angles. More prisoners marching into town. LS of beach where landing was made. CU Sailor making signal to our ships, with lamp.
