Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: 31st Anniversary of Chinese Revolution. DESCRIPTION: The Chinese Army in training. SHOTLIST: Chinese Army & Airforce marching past, parade takes place on large parade ground; some of the soldiers Mortars. Cavalry march past, horses & ponies being used, followed by mortar & artillery section, background trees. Various shots of crowds. Motor bikes, lorries, tanks included in march past, into camera. Shot of grand stand. LS Formation of planes flying over is salute (planes not recognised). General Chang Chun on horseback inspects Forces paraded, General in mufti, army & air force uniforms are identical. Troops goose-stepping in march past, they then break into a trot. Mortar section goose stepping. Shots & pan of crowds. GS of stand showing General Chang Chun & other guests. Troops ‘march past’ on lorries. Chinese Military Academy - CARD 43126 Cut story - Chinese artillery troops passing under the impressive entrance of Academy. Troops training with artillery, not firing, then cadets charging through various obstacles, such as scaling walls, climbing over barbed wire entanglements, bayonet practice is also rehearsed. GS of stand showing General Chang Chun, & other officers (unnamed). General on horseback inspecting troops. Troops march past, goose stepping, followed by formation of planes flying overhead, again coming back to ordinary marching past of cadets.
