- [SUBTITLE]: "[Main title and opening two titles missing]." Detachments of the Army passing through the outlying districts of Jerusalem. "Crowds and Troops line the Route of Entry". "The Commander-in-Chief is received at Jaffa Gate by the British Military Governor of Jerusalem". "Leaving their horses outside the gates. General Sir EDMUND ALLENBY, Commander-in-Chief British Expeditionary Force, and Staff Entering the Holy City on Foot, accompanied by Allied Commanders and Military Attaches". "Reading Sir Edmund Allenby’s Proclamation, which is translated into different languages by interpreters. ‘Lest any of you should be alarmed by reason of your experience at the hands of the enemy who has retired, I hereby inform you that it is my desire that every person should pursue his lawful business without fear of interruption". "Receiving Representatives of the various Religious Sects and Civic Dignitaries. ‘Every sacred building, monument, holy spot, shrine, traditional site, endowment, pious bequest, or customary place of prayer, will be maintained and protected according to the existing customs and beliefs of those to whose faiths they are sacred’ (General Allenby’s Proclamation)".
