Summary
[SUBTITLE]: "And the President of Panama boards Renown at Colon. Colon was delighted when the Prince went ashore. "The mighty Renown just squeezes through the great Gatun Lock into the Panama Canal, which cuts the waist of the world". "American engineers show the Prince the wonders of the towering Gatun dam and ... the ponderous gates to the west swing open that the Prince may pass to the Pacific". "HRH lands at San Diego, and American citizens wave a wild welcome to Britain’s Prince in the vast stadium". "Bowered amid eucalyptus branches, the Prince, speaking through an electric megaphone, rouses 20,000 people to a thunder of cheers"." Prince of Wales passes through the Panama Canal [31st March] and makes a speech at San Diego [8th April].
