Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Lebanon Crisis - Uproar in Beirut. DESCRIPTION: First pictures of the recent disturbances in Lebanon, where French troops opened fire on a crowd of protesters. The crisis is a threat to Allied war plans and both the British and French have both moved to ease the tension. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Deserted streets of Beirut, except for patrolling French troops. French troops guarding buildings (Government) Lebanese mobs demonstrating in streets, troops pushing them about to make thoroughfare for cars. Major General Spears arrives with his wife (Mary Borden). Spears out of car followed by wife, he inspects Guard of Honour being Palestinian Guards, through wire netting can be seen crowds clapping & cheering (silent) Mr Casey with Brigadier Clatton, Brigadier Hutchings, & Major General Spears, walk towards car.
