- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Order of the Day on the Eastern Front. DESCRIPTION: The liberation of one Soviet town after another is now being accomplished. Tarnapol, a strong German position to the east of Lvov, was liberated by the First Ukrainian Army under Marshal Joukov. The Soviet forces are driving forward at a rate of 20 miles a day, into Latvia and Lithuania. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. LS Tarnapol. Mix to ruins & pan. Map of Tarnapol & surrounding areas, in Russian. Diagramatical description of encirclement. Shots of artillery fire on plains, many guns at all angles. GS of shells bursting. Tanks pass through town. Artillery brought up in town, General uses stereoscope. Mortars firing, from midst ruins, also artillery. Ruins, dead lie about streets, SCU of artillery breech as gun fires. Machine gunning snipers from window, various shots of street fighting. Hand grenade thrown in window, small explosion. Soldier on balcony throws another, machine guns same, then climbs through window. More shots street fighting and dead. Many KO German guns & heavy artillery. Refugees exit caves, with cows etc. Walk through streets of Tarnapol. Shots of long lines of German prisoners.
