MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: News From the East: 15th Anniversary Chinese Airforce. DESCRIPTION: Members of the Chinese Air Force have been training in India under Colonel Hwoo. Also from India comes the story of Sepoy Wellington Mazaar who received the Indian Distinguished Service Medal from Sir Andrew Clow. The third story from the Sub-continent shows the Viceroy, Lord Wavell visiting Imphal. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GS runway with bi-plane trainers on same. Colonel Hwoo inspects Chinese pilots. Various shots of crowds watching demonstration of formation flying, spelling words in Chinese & English. GV of Chinese officers with Colonel Hwoo (holding dagger). Formation flying. Gallantry Rewarded - CARD 45197 Cut story - GV of troops paraded, Sir Andrew Clow (Governor of Assam) presents IDSM to aunt of Sepoy Wellington Mazaar of Shillong. Shot of medal pinned on Sepoy’s aunt draped in black. Nand Singh wins VC alighting from train, Indian place beads over his head. Various shots of him walking into camera with Indian officers etc. The Maharaja of Patiala & Nand Singh. GV rooftops of Shillong. MS Singh with his father and mother. Lord Wavell At Imphal - CARD 45198 Cut story - GV of Indian Air Force personnel paraded on air strip at Imphal. GV of Lord Wavell taking the salute. Wavell inspects men. Various shots of Wavell also inspecting his old division. Wavell talks (silent) with the Maharaja of Manipur, also CU of both. Wavell being given gifts, presents from many Naga Chiefs, which includes blankets, daggers, head-dress etc. GV of Wavell with Indian Naga Chiefs.
