- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Western Battlefront. DESCRIPTION: Pictures from the Western battlefront shows the steady progress on all sectors West of the Rhine. The 1st US Army sector has pounded the town of Stolberg about six miles east of Aachen. It was taken on 17th November and the advance continued towards Duren. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Jeep & lorry into camera along roadway, out of morning mist. Conveyance with tracks tow heavy artillery, through snow. Sherman tanks cross field. GV "Long Toms" firing, LS of explosions. Look out with binoculars. Troops cross railway lines, also canal, over wreckage of bridge, etc. Yanks knock (commence to) door of house in. Casualties being given first aid. Prisoners march along country road. Sherman tank stationary in field fire their guns. US infantry in back garden of German houses, one crawls along ground. Jeeps etc. pass through streets of Stolberg. First part of the story surrounds Metz. Shermans along roads, muddy, shots of tracks on move. More prisoners also civilians taken into custody. AFU - On the British Front, near Geilenkirchen, British infantry on Sherman tanks pass along country roads towards above town, various shots. Bren carriers pass over fields of mud, finish on CU British infantry’s feet marching through mud.
