Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Battle of Vilna. DESCRIPTION: Russian newsreel pictures have just reached England of last July’s capture of Vilna by the Red Army. The capital of Lithuania was taken after a fierce battle in which partisans had fought gallantly. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Russian tanks travel along road. Aerial shot of city of Vilna. Capital of Lithuania. Tanks along road, Russian signpost, tanks pass dead on side walk, artillery on move, soldiers fire mortars from wooded sector. Various shots of street fighting, more dead; using machine guns. LS Vilna, artillery on outskirts shell city, various shots. In city, several houses on fire, wounded prisoners marched through town, long lines of prisoners. Partisans return march through town headed by band, small crowds cheer them as they go through.
