MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: England Win Again - 3 - 2. DESCRIPTION: There were record gate receipts at the Villa ground, for the International match between England and Scotland. It was one all at half-time, but Mortensen’s second half goal gave the victory to England. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Teams coming out. Various shots of crowds LS, & slow pan. Mr AV Alexander, introduced to teams. Mercer (England) & Busby (Scotland) for toss. Mercer won & Scotland kick-off. Scotland attack right away. Swift in goal, rather active. Matthews (E) kick ball in front of Scotland’s goalmouth, Brown (E) heads same into goal. Scotland attack England’s goal. Dodds (S) passes to Delaney (S) who scores from an acute angle, ball bounces off goalpost into goal. Half-time, crowd shots. Second half, Mortensen beats R Brown (S) (goalie). Dodds again attacks & scores for Scotland. Mortensen scores for England. Various shots of England attacking, play in Scotland’s goalmouth, R Brown making some excellent saves. Teams: Scotland - Robert Brown (Queens Park Rangers), James Harley (Liverpool), James Stephens (Bradford), Matt Busby (Liverpool), Robert Thyne (Darlington), Archie Macaulay (West Ham), James Delaney (Celtic), Willie Fagan (Liverpool), Ephraim Dodds (Blackpool), Andy Black (Hearts), Willie Liddell (Liverpool). England - Frank Swift (Manchester City), Lowrence [sic] Scott (Arsenal), George Hardwick (Middlesbrough), Frank Soo (Stoke City), Joe Mercer (Everton), Stan Matthews (Stoke City), Albert Brown (Charlton Athletic), Tommy Lawton (Everton), Stanley Mortensen (Blackpool), Leslie Smith (Brentford).
