Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Germany Osnabruck Falls. DESCRIPTION: OSNABRUCK ENTERED - When troops entered Osnabruck they found large numbers of slave workers, Italians, Russians, French, Dutch and others. V2’S - Near the town of Bromskirchen the Allies captured a whole train loaded with V2 rockets. FREE AGAIN - Near Kaunitz the Americans freed thousands more slave workers and saw the cemetery which contained massed graves of the thousands who did not survive. Jewish girls had crude yellow crosses daubed on their clothes and identification marks tattooed on their arms. LOOTING - German civilians have been indulging in an orgy of looting of food and wine. SHOTLIST: Shot of Dortmund-Ems canal dried - tugs - barges high and dry - shots of demolished bridge. Elevated shots of British troops entering Osnabruck. CU marching past camera. Greeted by slave-workers - German people look on. GV ruined Osnabruck - Slave workers, Russian, French etc., all nationalities gathered in square, one man from Gestapo posed as a Dutchman - denounced by Russian girl - man arrested and marched off amid ironical cheers. Freed Hungarians escorted out of Osnabruck, British Commando Officer rides in jeep. GV train near Bromskirchen, carries V2’s - various angles of same - GV of Rocket. At a prison camp near Kaunitz Americans free thousands of slave workers. Many Russians cheer and jump for joy. Panning shots of camp and graves of over 30,000 Russians having died here. SCU Jewesses with daubs of yellow on their backs, numbers tattooed on their arms - their fingers and hands badly need medical attention. Germans looting cartons of bread. In Osnabruck looting at wine cellar. At Wartheim looting food from barges moored along canal, sacks, crates etc., two German women fighting over goods.
