- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rheims - Unconditional Surrender Signed. DESCRIPTION: General Eisenhower’s battle headquarters at Rheims was the setting for Germany’s unconditional surrender. The ceremony was brief and a 2.41 am the capitulation of Germany was completed. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV Ville de Rheims. Delegates enter building. Shot from inside, German prisoners trudging past outside. Interior shots, delegates seated at table, for positions see attached. CU Lt General Bedell-Smith (US Army). Next to him is seated Admiral Burrough, & Major General Susloparov. CU Spaatz. German delegates enter, General Jodl, General Admiral von Friedeburg, & Major Oxenious. Various shots of Jodl signing on dotted line, with many officers around, other signatories sign. Jodl standing, makes objection (silent). Group shot shows Eisenhower with all representatives around him holding two pens, one gold & other Ersatz in "V" position. Groups of laughing Russians. Eisenhower makes a speech, with Tedder seated beside him.
