Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: AIF Invade Tarakan. DESCRIPTION: Liberators, manned by the Royal Australian Air Force were used for softening up Japanese defences at Borneo. The landings by Australian liberating forces were unopposed and they were quickly in pursuit of the enemy. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Aerial shot of Tarakan. Formation of Liberators in flight. Leaflets dropped on Jap held territory. Bombs falling, aerial shots of fires, oil tanks ablaze. Allied warships firing on coastal defences, tracers, etc. Shots of landing craft into camera. Various shots of troops landing, British troops advance inland. Various objects ablaze. Borneo people pass our troops, shots of crowds on inhabitants, eating, half-starved people. Shots of Matilda tanks advancing, & troops in pursuit of enemy.
