- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Japanese Surrender Mission. DESCRIPTION: Film news from the Far East includes the story of the bogus Japanese hospital ship, Tachibaan Maru, captured off Australia. Aboard the American battleship "Missouri" Admiral Halsey, Admiral Rawlings and Staff Officers drink a toast to victory. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS Jap hospital ship "Tachibaan Maru" captured off Australia. Cases of 75mm shells found onboard. Jap soldiers embark from same, running into camera. Formal surrender of Japan held onboard US battleship ‘Missouri’, Admiral Halsey, Admiral Rawlings and staff officers drink toast - interior shots. General MacArthur addresses men "I hope from the bottom of my heart that this is the end of the war" etc. Japanese surrender planes, escorted by American fighters, come in to land on the island of Ie. Lieutenant General Kawabe and delegates alight and then enter US plane (C54 transport) which takes off. As planes land, several shots of cameramen in action.
