MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: American Courtesies. DESCRIPTION: GENERAL IRA EAKER AT HIGH WYCOMBE - General Eaker, who commanded the US 8th Army Air Force, returns to his former HQ at High Wycombe. There he received the Freedom of the Borough of Chepping-Wycombe. FAREWELL! EIGHTH AIR FORCE - At Honnington, Suffolk the USAAF hand back the station to the Royal Air Force. SHOTLIST: KS Exterior High Wycombe Town Hall. Arrivals of personalities. Interior - Mayor presents casket to General Ira Eaker. CU Eaker and MS making speech. Cut-ins audience applauding, mix to Wycombe Abbey Girls School, two GVs. Mix to interior of Town Hall. LS of Mayor making speech (silent). At Honnington Airfield. Sub KS. Elevated shot American 8th USAAF personnel in marchpast; snowing hard with rain mixed. On dais are Brigadier General Kiel and Air Marshal Robb. RAF band lead marchpast of RAF personnel. This aerodrome is being handed back to the RAF. Kiel addresses parade, MS of him, makes remark about weather. Stars and Stripes being lowered. SCU & CU of same during playing of US National Anthem, cut-in RAF personnel and RAF Ensign being raised during playing of "God Save the King". Kiel shakes hands with Robb just before boarding Flying Fortress, Robb wishes him better weather in his own country. CU propellers and starting of engine. Flying Fortress taxies along runway out of camera.
