MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Independence for Philippines. DESCRIPTION: General MacArthur was present in Manila when the Philippines became independent from America. SHOTLIST: Crowd shot at ceremony. Crowds try to break through barriers. MS President Roas (right) with Senator Tydings. GV General MacArthur speaking about independence. Cut-in of crowds seated awaiting actual proclamation, women in stylish dresses etc. MS High Commissioner McNutt saying I have been directed to proclaim the Philippines an independent state etc. GV Stars & Stripes being lowered and the Filipino flag being raised. Filipino troops, artillery etc. passing through streets, crowds cheering (silent) waving etc.
