MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Natural History News - Bees, Chimps, Bears & Greyhounds. DESCRIPTION: The convention has just been held at Cradell, New Jersey. The chimpanzees in a Paris zoo model for sculptor, Monsieur Barteletti. At the Philadelphia Zoo the polar bear keeps cool by splashing himself and everybody else. From Australia comes film of greyhound coursing. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: GV tree. At Ordell, New Jersey, swarms of bees on comb, fellow standing perfectly still with swarm of bees round his neck & shoulders. Various shots of bees swarming over bee-keepers. At Vincennes, Paris, animal sculptor at work on chimpanzee’s head, carving from lump of stone, chimp posing for him, also assisting, chimp hitting bust of chimp with steel gouge. Finished model, handed to chimp who starts to hit same. CU bust & chimp. At Philadelphia Zoo, polar bear takes the plunge, several shots of it diving into pool, soaking admirers in water, shots of bear diving into camera, people scatter as water is splashed into air. At Rooty Hill, Australia. Slow motion shots of two greyhounds chasing a hare. Preceded by crowd shot & trainer holding two hounds & releasing same, chasing hare. Slow motion, hare leaps over two hounds, also keep turning right at crucial moment. STILL of one hound with mouth open ready to bite at hare, just a few inches away. Slow motion, hounds fall over one another & hare races to safety through fence. (Coursing 100ft very good).
