- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Strike - London Scenes. DESCRIPTION: An unofficial strike of some 15,000 lorry drivers had produced deadlock in the capital. Butchers shops and fishmongers were virtually empty and queues formed to buy horse-meat. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV Smithfield Market. Various shots of mail accumulating at General Post Office, private car enters GPO loaded with mail-bags. GV Smithfield, idle, sides of meat hanging in market. CU of same. Various shots of butchers shops empty, empty meat tray. Queue outside butchers shop. CU sign reading ‘Horse meat’ - for human consumption only’. Empty fishmongers and butchers shops.
