MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Orcades Launched. DESCRIPTION: NEW ORIENT LINER - The new Orient liner Orcades is launched at Barrow-in-Furness. SHOTLIST: KS Library - Large plate of steel being swung into position on ship. Taken from crane gib. GV of Orcades under construction, taken from bows end. Placing steel sheet on deck. Mix to GV of SS Orcades with name on side of ship, in stocks. Crowds around ship. GV platform shows Lady Morshead, wife of Director of Orient Line, she says Orcades may God bless her etc. Ship moving down slipway. Ship going down slipway, out of camera. Lady Morshead waves as ship enters water, crowds hurrah (three cheers). Several shots of ship during actual launching. Ship lying in water after launching.
