- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Gandhi’s Ashes Borne to Holy River. DESCRIPTION: Lord Mountbatten and his family travelled to Prayag for the ceremony of scattering Gandhi’s ashes on the river Ganges. SHOTLIST: KS Elevated crowds in River Ganges. Lord Mountbatten (in civvy suit) alights from plane, greeted by Mrs Naidu. Mountbattens being garlanded, walks across road, with the above and the Brabournes. Train enters Allahabad Station, urn of ashes carried by Nehru and Sardar Patel towards truck. Ashes placed on amphibious truck, shots of procession through the streets, cut-ins of crowds around truck, plane flies low and drops flower petals etc. Preceded by Mountbatten in boats. GV of Indians in the River Ganges. Indian troops march with rifles reversed.
