- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Australian News. DESCRIPTION: DEMONSTRATORS DEFY POLICE - In Sydney the New Housewives Association staged a demonstration against rising prices. There was also a demonstration in Brisbane this time led by Communist agitators. TEST TEAM DEPARTS - FAMOUS ACTORS ARRIVE - The Australian Cricket Team leave for England. At Freemantle Sir Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh arrive with the Old Vic Company. SHOTLIST: (A) SYDNEY - KS SCU police mingle with crowds. Various shots of large crowds parading through streets of Sydney carrying placards, posters etc. demonstrating cost of living. Elevated shot of huge crowds. (B) BRISBANE - Long lines of Communists filing past camera, carrying various placards, police break same up. Various shots of scraps with police. Following day. Communists parade without placards, police again break them up, some disperse. (C) MELBOURNE - MS Lindsay Hassett with racket. Don Bradman shakes hands with Secretary of Victoria Cricket Club. Ronald Hammence, Hassett, Sam Loxton, Harvey, Bill Johnston and Ring pose on gangway leading to plane. MS William Brown. Colin McCool, Ronald Saggers, Ray Lindwall, Keith Miller and Ernest Toshack on gangway. MS plane taxiing across aerodrome, wives and children in foreground wave. (D) FREEMANTLE - GV ship SS Corinthic. Several shots including close ups of Sir Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh (with bouquet) on deck of ship.
