MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Italy Goes to the Polls. DESCRIPTION: Vast crowds turned out in Milan to hear the eve of poll speeches. In Rome, as elsewhere, the Government took full precautions against disturbances or interference with the free vote. SHOTLIST: KS Milan elevated crowds in streets. Several shots of crowds. Crowds holding flags as they parade through streets. GV crowds. Elevated crowds. Rome - Armoured cars and troops through streets. GV Liberal posters on buildings. People queue to vote, Pope’s sister carried on chair into voting building. Arrival of de Gasperi amid crowds, walks towards Polling Station, he is accompanied by his wife. Interior - Gasperi voting, places voting paper in box.
