MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: D-Day Anniversary. DESCRIPTION: At Portsmouth Field Marshal Montgomery took part in the ceremonies marking the fourth anniversary of D-Day. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS LIBRARY - GV Normandy beaches with Sherman tanks landing on same. Monty walks along Portsmouth seafront inspects US, French units, also the Royal Marines. Mayor of Portsmouth and Monty walk towards memorial to be unveiled. GV gathering. Accompanying Monty is Admiral Cunningham. MS Monty addressing gathering, he speaks over following: Library shots - GV & panning of small ships camouflaged in harbour. Two shots of troops boarding ship, up gangway. GV ships at sea, with barrage balloons flying aloft of them. LS fleet of ships at sea with barrage balloons over same. LS Normandy beaches, with small columns of smoke rising in background. GV fleet of ships with balloons aloft. Troops wade ashore dragging their equipment, cycles etc. Troops, into camera, run along beaches. Fade back to Portsmouth. Monty nearing end of speech, SCU of him. Monty turns & walks onto raised platform, unveils memorial to USA, French & British units. CU memorial showing inscription on same.
