Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Silverstone Grand Prix. Opening of Silverstone Track. DESCRIPTION: Many world famous drivers took part in the Grand Prix motor race at Silverstone. It was the first international event of the kind to be held in Britain since 1927. A tremendous duel was fought between the two Italian aces, Ascari and Villoresi. With Villoresi winning by 14 seconds. SHOTLIST: KS GV Earl Howe addressing competitors before start. Various shots of drivers. One is B Bira. MS start cars roar away. Various shots of race includes MCU of drivers past and re-fuelling. Cut-in crowd. Into camera shots of cars in race. GV Ansell No 22 (ERA) crashing. Stop motion shots of same. St John’s Ambulance men carrying Ansell away. Various shots of Ascari and Villoresi both driving Maseratis near to finish. MS Villoresi.
