MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Truman’s Victory. DESCRIPTION: The result of the American Presidential election astonished everybody - except Harry Truman. SHOTLIST: KS Capitol building (6ft.) Interior - Wins Democratic Convention, Truman says Senator Barkley & I will win this election and make the Republicans like it & don’t you forget that. Truman votes. Truman places vote into box, standing beside him are Mrs Truman and his daughter Margaret. Thomas Dewey voting, enters booth, draws curtain. CU curtain. Mrs Dewey writing her vote. GV hall interior shows how returns are coming in. Several broadcasting representatives including Canadian, French and British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) representative, all seated with microphones in front of them. Pan of camera and soundmen. Dewey reads out telegram which he sent to Truman. CU of him speaking. CU result board. CU Truman smiling.
