- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Canadian Parliament Opened. DESCRIPTION: Lord Alexander opens the fifth session of Canada’s twentieth Parliament. He reads the speech from the throne and amongst those present was the ex-Premier Mackenzie King. SHOTLIST: KS Lord & Lady Alexander’s car draws up outside Parliament Building. Lord & Lady alight. Both pose. Premier St Laurent shakes their hands. Black Rod taps the door of Parliament. Interior - Sergeant-at-Arms picks up mace, leads members into the Senate. CU Mackenzie King listening to Lord Alexander’s speech. LS Alexander reading address, he remains seated, (this is the first time this has been filmed). MS Alexander speaking. End of speech, all members stand.
