- Eighth Army attack Tripoli, blasting its way along. It is stressed "Your [underlined] lorries, guns and ammunition made this advance possible". In Tripoli, troops receive a big welcome from local people. Views of Tripoli Harbour. The formal surrender of Italians to General Montgomery. Union Jack hoisted. The formal entry of Montgomery into Tripoli. Winston Churchill motors into Tripoli and is greeted by Montgomery and Alexander. Speaks to Eighth Army on outskirts of Tripoli. Triumphant march past - with bagpipes.
